The Toledo Express Airport is the main airport serving travelers in Toledo, Ohio. The airport also serves as a second airport for the Detroit region, which is just a short drive across the state line. More than 180,000 passengers use the airport every year, and it also handles more than 200,000 tons of cargo. Though the airport is not the hub for any major airline, it does serve as the primary hub of cargo company DB Schneker.
Three airlines operate out of the airport: Allegiant Air, American Eagle, and AmericanConnection, which Chautauqua Airlines operates. AmericanConnection operates out of Gate 3, and it offers nonstop flights to O’Hare International Airport in Chicago, Illinois. The Toledo Express Airport has only one terminal, which serves as the base of operations for each of the airlines.
Allegiant is one of the main airlines handling flights in and out of Toledo through the airport. The airlines offers nonstop flights to Orlando, and the flights land at the Orlando Sanford International Airport. Travelers can also land at the Punta Gorda, Charlotte County Airport when flying nonstop to the Punta Gorda/Ft. Myers area. The airline also offers nonstop flights to St. Petersburg and Clearwater, Florida through the St. Petersburg/Clearwater International Airport.
American Airlines operates the American Eagle brand at the Toledo Express Airport. The airline offers nonstop flights to Chicago, which land at the O’Hare International Airport. The airline is also responsible for return flights from Chicago. These flights arrive at and depart from the airport several times every day. American Airlines has two scheduled departures and three or more arrivals every day. The flights typically depart every three to five hours, and some mid-week flights usually depart early in the morning, while weekend flights are available throughout the day.
Allegiant’s counter is only open during select hours throughout the day. The counter opens one hour before the scheduled flight time, and the counters close after the flight departs. The American Eagle counter opens at 5 a.m., and the counter does not close until 9 p.m., which is after the last flight of the day. AmericanConnection operates its counter throughout the day but only during certain hours. The counter typically opens one hour or less before the flight begins boarding, and the counter closes after the last passenger boards the flight. American Eagle uses Gate 3 for all flights, while Allegiant uses Gate 5 for its flights.
