John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art

The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art is one of the top attractions in the Sarasota-Bradenton, Florida area. Established in 1927 by the Ringlings for Florida’s citizens, it is only 2.8 miles from the Sarasota-Bradenton Airport. It serves as the state museum of Florida. Admire 21 galleries of paintings as well as American and Asian contemporary art. The current collection at the Ringling Museum includes over 10,000 pieces of paintings, drawings, prints, photographs and sculpture. In addition to the art museum, visit the circus museum, the Ringling mansion and Ca d’Zan. Recent campus additions include a Visitor’s Pavilion and Education, Library and Conservation Complex.

Sailor Circus

While in the Sarasota-Bradenton area, try to catch a spectacular performance by the very talented kids in the Sailor Circus. It is located around 6 miles from the airport. Take a cool and leisurely two-hour stroll through the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens located only 6.5 miles from the Sarasota-Bradenton airport. Most of the nearly 13 acres are shady which can be very welcoming on a hot day in South Florida. The beautiful gardens on the grounds fulfilled a final wish for the genteel Marie Selby. The gardens opened to the public on July 7, 1975 after her death. An elegant mansion adjoins the property and houses the Gardens’ Museum. The Gardens maintain a huge collection of over 20,000 accessioned plants. Additionally, eight greenhouses showcase rare flora the year around. Also a respected research center for several plant species, the Gardens are visited by over 180,000 each year.

Mote Marine Aquarium

One of Florida’s best places to view marine life is at the Mote Marine Aquarium. Explore the wonders of the sea through touch pools, interactive exhibits and viewable-working labs. Learn about the world-renowned research here with educational and interactive exhibits. The Mote Aquarium, a must-see especially for children is located 9.5 miles from the Sarasota-Bradenton airport. The Sarasota Jungle Gardens have been delighting young and old for generations now. A Florida attraction since 1939, it is only 3.7 miles from the Sarasota-Bradenton airport. This unique attraction allows visitors to feed free-roaming flamingos, pet skunks and watch trained parrots perform funny tricks. Enjoy one of several award-winning animal shows and have lunch or refreshments at the Flamingo Cafe.
