Being the main gateway into Kuwait, the Kuwait International Airport is a major base for two domestic airlines. Kuwait Airways operates a busy schedule between Kuwait City and other important cities in the Middle East and the Arab World. The airline creates direct links between Kuwait International Airport and neighboring countries such as Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, United Arab Emirates, and Qatar. Abu Dhabi, Dammam, Dubai, Doha, Jeddah, Muscat, and Riyadh are major destinations on the Arabian Peninsula that can be reached via Kuwait Airways.
Of course, Kuwait Airways also links Kuwait City with more distant Middle Eastern destinations such as Amman, Aleppo, Beirut, Cairo, Sharm el Sheikh and Tehran. Kuwait’s national airline also maintains busy air traffic routes between Kuwait City and Pakistan. Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore are some of the largest Pakistani cities that can be reached on non-stop flights scheduled by Kuwait Airways. Large Indian cities such as Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Mumbai are also on the timetable of Kuwait’s busiest airline.
Offering scheduled flights to London, Paris, and Rome, Kuwait Airways is one of the few companies that can take passengers directly between Kuwait and Europe. Additionally, this major domestic airline offers long haul flights to New York City, one of the few North American destinations offered at Kuwait International Airport.
Passengers in Kuwait International Airport also have the option to use Jazeera Airways to get to major destinations in the Arab World. This low-cost airline is based in Kuwait’s main international airport. When looking at the Jazeera Airways timetable, passengers will see destinations such as Beirut, Bahrain, Dubai, Doha, Jeddah, Istanbul, and Riyadh.
Most of the international airlines that provide service in Kuwait International Airport are from the Middle East. This list includes Air Cairo, Bahrain Air, Egyptair, Gulf Air, Iran Air, Nas Air, Middle East Airlines, Qatar Airways, Saudia, and Royal Jordanian. Additionally, All three of the major airlines from the United Arab Emirates (Etihad Airways, Emirates and Flydubai) also serve Kuwait International Airport.
Because of a remote location and fluctuating ties with the western world, Kuwait International Airport receives very limited service from European and North American airlines. The busiest airport in the U.K., London Heathrow Airport, can be reached by boarding British Airways jets from Kuwait City. KLM, Lufthansa, and Turkish Airlines are the other European carriers that operate in Kuwait City.
The only international airline that connects Kuwait International Airport with North America is United Airlines. This major American airline offers long distance flights to the capital of the United States.
