Geneva International Airport, recognized by its Airport code GVA, is situated within the communes of Meyrin and Grand Saconnex and serves the beautiful area of Geneva, Switzerland. This enormous airport occupies an incredible land area of 840 acres with a concrete runway that is 12,795 feet long, making it the longest runway in the country. History of the Airport

Geneva airport was initially established in 1919 as an airfield in the village of Cointrin, which is located very close to Geneva. Terminal 1 is the main terminal and is further subdivided into five piers. This terminal includes 108 check in desks and is able to accommodate 13 – 15 million passengers each year. It also includes a French sector, Pier F, with freight operations that are available at its access point, which is in France. Pier F allows passengers that are traveling within the bordering French area and the airport to avoid Swiss territory and customs. Terminal 2 is dedicated mainly for winter usage.

Geneva Airport offers a variety of check in options to suit the needs of its customers. Passengers have the option to check in the same day or a day prior to traveling, speed through the airport with express check in, check in and print all necessary boarding passes via the internet or check in at the rail station.

Visitors can choose between the 4,700 long-term spaces or the 265 short term spots and may utilize the valet parking service. There are also 220 parking spots specifically for the French sector as well as economy car parking.
